The Radiology Department has completed its total equipment upgrade with the acquisition of all brand new x-ray equipment from a cordless mobilex-ray unit to a high performance, state-of-the-art radiographic/fluoroscopic x-ray television system.The department services also feature panoramic and cephalometric studies, a dedicated mammography system,two Spiral Computed Tomography systems (Shimadzu SCT-6800TXand SCT-7800TX), multipurpose digital color Ultrasound units which cover allapplication fields from abdominal, vascular and cardiacdiagnosis, obstetric, gynecology, and urologyto neonatal transcranial studies in pediatrics, and aBone Densitometry unit which uses atechnique known as Dual Energy X-rayAbsorptiometry (DEXA) for non-invasive estimates of bone mineral density as an aid in the diagnosisand management of osteoporosis and assessingrisk fracture. The department has likewiseacquired a brand new Hitachi Airis II O.3TOpen Magnetic Resonance Imaging. This systemhas diffusion imaging with multiple array head coils,which improves stroke impact for claustrophobic patients.To complete and enhance the department's services,another subspecialty was opened, the Vascular andInterventional Radiology, manned by specially trained medical staff and equipped with aShimadzu C-Vision Digitex Pro Serieswith C-arm table for digital radiography/fluoroscopywith Digital Subtraction Angiography(DSA) capability.
