The Department of Pediatrics meets the needs in the competent management of diseases of children, in both the in-patient and out-patient sections, with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic equipment for service as well as pay patients. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is comparable with the best in the country. The nursery is Baby-Friendly, encouraging breastfeeding and rooming-in of newborns with their mothers. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) meets the needs of all pediatric patients who are in need of specialized care during hospitalization, both for medical and surgical cases. The outpatient services provide consultations, follow-up care, check-ups, and immunizations of charity and package deal patients. The department has separate outpatient clinics for Pediatric subspecialties in Cardiology, Pulmonology, Intensive Care, Allergology and Immunology, Neonatology, Nephrology, and Endocrinology. The Diarrhea Treatment Unit (DTU) handles children with problems of dehydration due to diarrhea and/or vomiting, treating them with oral rehydration solutions not necessitating hospitalization and intravenous fluid replacement. The department has the greatest number of Board-certified consultants, covering General Pediatrics, Neonatology, Critical Care, Nephrology, Allergology and Immunology, Pulmonology, Neurology, Hematology and Oncology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Endocrinology.
