The day starts early at 4:00 A.M. when food is prepared and cooked to the specific diets of the patients, which includes soft diets, low cholesterol, low fat, low salt, low purine and other diets. The process of checking the diet list can be likened to a pilot of a Boeing 747 performing a check-list prior to take-off, both must ensure that everything is in place before it leaves. The Dietary Services also provides osteorized diets both for in and out patients. These are special preparations for patients who are unable to digest solid foods. Dietary counseling/instructions are also offered for patients with diet referrals from physicians. A Dietician visits the patients to discuss their special diets. A cafeteria service is likewise offered.
