Since 1989, Cebu Doctors' Hospital has been the home of the Cebu Lithotripter Center, where Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) is done. This treatment allows fragmentation of stones in the kidneys, ureters, gallbladder, and urinary bladder without open surgery. The Lithotripter was the second machine in the country and the first in the Visayas and Mindanao area.
