The clinical laboratory provides services both for In-patients and Outpatients and equipped with state-of-the-art automated equipment. The department is composed of the following different sections: Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Banking, Clinical Microscopy, and Serology. The Hematology section is equipped with an automated Interlab Genio Electrophoresis machine, Thrombolyzer and Option coagulation machine, and several Hematology analyzers. Blood Banking section has a blood bank refrigerator, refrigerated centrifuge, and two Baxter pheresis machines. The Microbiology section is equipped with Bactec 9120, MB Bact, and BBL Crystal. The Serology section is equipped to perform procedures needed for immunology testing for antigen and antibody needed for diagnosis of autoimmune diseases and infections. A Fluorescent microscope is used for detection of anti nuclear antibodies. Several automated machines are used in the Chemistry section such as Vitros of Johnson & Johnson, AXSYM, TDX, IMX of Abbott, and blood gas machine of IL.
