Among other services, the Cardio-Pulmonary section is devoted to cardiopulmonary diagnostics providing extensive services designed to augment the physician's clinical evaluation. In addition to standard electrocardiography (ECG), dynamic evaluation of the heart is done via treadmill exercise tests, dobutamine stress echo and (in cooperation with the Nuclear Medicine Services) Thallium stress scans. Various imaging modalities allow further evaluation of the cardiovascular system. 2-dimentional echocardiography with Doppler studies provide static and dynamic methods of cardiac evaluation. From the carotids and the intracranial circle of Willis to the small arteries of the feet, duplex scanning visualizes all of the vascular system. The procedures are not only used for diagnosis, they are also non-invasive and cost-effective means of follow-up. The pulmonary function test is the diagnostic service provided by the pulmonary arm of the section. Therapeutics are also provided for by chest physiotherapy services and this subsection is also responsible for the optimum function and use of the mechanical ventilators. Recently, the section has been put in charge of the Electro-encephalogram (EEG) program.
